About Mermaid Gin
Having spent 2 years arranging and finalising their distilling licenses, friends Xavier Baker and Conrad Gauntlett launched the Isle of Wight's first distillery and their first gin, Wight Mermaids Gin, in 2015. The distillery and their 300 litre column still is located in Ryde at Rosemary Vineyard where they macerate 10 botanicals in grain spirit for 24 hours before distillation. The botanicals include 3 local botanicals from the Isle of Wight - rock samphire, hops and and elderflower. In 2019 the gin was relaunched as 'Mermaid Gin' with its striking new bottle.

Mermaid Gin is clean, refreshing and smooth, with impressive depth of flavour. Sweetness from the elderflower and liqourice are beautifully balanced with peppery spice from the Grains of Paradise and the lemon zest and cirtusy, savoury Boadicea hops. Enjoy Mermaid Gins in a gin and tonic with a garnish of lemon peel to bring out the zesty notes, or try it with cucumber or apple to balance with peppery spice and rock samphire. - Paul Jackson, 2017
